What would make the Best Base in your area?

So there's zombies everywhere and you're looking for a place to stay.. Where would you go?

I know it might not be the most intelligent idea for survival but I think I'd take over the pool in the huge park near my house. It's elevated by maybe over a meter and surrounded by a fence with barb wire. There's one entrance and it can be closed with a fence. There's even a place for the cashier that could be used as a guarding post.

It isn't near any food supply or anything convenient but I think it'd be great as my base for the extermination of my neighborhood. Sadly that means I'd be fighting familiar faces but atleast they wont be walking dead. There's also a big round flower garden within the park where I'd pile and burn the bodies.

So where would you go? Stay home?

I'd stay home, if the situation was bad enough outside I'd inside my own home. After all, the best place you know inside out was the place your raised in from a young age.

I've got everything I need right here, food, weapons and communication. Not to mention a gas powered backup generator and a 4x4 in the garage incase things get rough.

Your idea marsh is a good one. It's true that a local swimming centre is unusual but it also means the less chance to find zombies at that place. A good outpost to establish a staging area without having to worry too much about the threats that may be there. Granted you'd still have to check the place over for any signs of major trouble and remove them before digging in and planning your next move.

Creating a new base is difficult, as you'd have to secure all possible entrances into the building, confirm important aspects such as indoor security (alarms, gates etc) and make sure that all infected or otherwise undead presence is removed.

The worst places I'd imagine would be the few areas people would congregate during a disaster. But also the main area's an extermination squad might want to start at.
